Walking With The Snowman

It has delighted us in print, on film and on stage and now the classic festive tale The Snowman is being celebrated in a special way this Christmas.

To mark the 40th birthday of the wonderful picture book, Lowry Outlet will be home to some very eye-catching snowmen of all shapes and sizes.

We are taking part in the Walking with The Snowman public art trail organised to celebrate the anniversary of Raymond Briggs’ classic story.

Artists have been commissioned to create a different design for each of the dozen giant snowmen based on the theme of the 12 Days of Christmas. The sculptures are then being dotted around MediaCityUK for everyone to enjoy throughout the festive season.

Lowry Outlet will not only host A Patridge in Pear Tree sculptures but will also have some smaller snowmen on display from the 5th December, which have been created by local schoolchildren, youth groups and adult creative organisations.

The trail is brought to you by Wild in Art and Penguin Ventures and each of the large snowman sculptures will be auctioned off before Christmas to raise funds for BBC Children in Need.

Families will have plenty of time to discover all the sculptures both large and small as the trail will run from Thursday 22nd November until Sunday 6th January.

You can pick up your trail map from the Information Desk.
